Asian Lettuce Wraps
Serve thin slices of teriyaki flank steak, beets, grated carrot, mandarin segments and hoisin sauce in separate bowls for guests to assemble into a delicious low-cal wrap.
1/4 cup soy sauce
1/4 cup honey or brown sugar
2 tablespoons white vinegar
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1 clove garlic, minced
2 tablespoons ginger, grated
1 1/2 pounds flank steak
1 head Boston lettuce, washed and separated into leaves
1 1/2 cups shredded carrots
1 1/2 cups cooked beets, diced
1 10-ounce can mandarin orange segments, drained
1 cup hoisin sauce
Combine soy sauce, honey, vinegar, oil, garlic and ginger, add steak, pierce it with a fork and coat with marinade. Marinate for 4 hours or overnight. Grill or broil steak for 4 minutes each side. Slice thinly across the grain. Assemble thin slices of flank steak, beets, grated carrot, mandarin segments and hoisin sauce in the lettuce leaf.
