The Doors Open concept is a simple one: buildings of architectural and historical significance, many of which are not normally open to the public, open their doors to visitors for a day or a weekend.The first Doors Open Day took place in France in 1984, and the concept has spread to other places around the world. There may be guided tours, special exhibits, displays or performances. Admission is generally free.

Doors Open Toronto 2017 is May 27-28.
