Take In A Talk

Let’s not say “lecture,” which can be loaded with negative connotations. But “talks” seem to be quite the trend these days.

Celebrities like former heads of state (e.g., Al Gore), chefs (e.g., Jamie Oliver), authors and activists go on speaking tours to major venues like concert halls in urban centers. Equally interesting though less known folks might take the podium at your local museum, library or community center. And everything in between.  As they say, “check your local listings.”

Of course, you can cuddle up together and take in a talk at home. Videos of talks are widely available through YouTube, Netflix, etc. “Ted Talks,” a phenomenon rapidly spreading around the world, include presentations by “the world’s most fascinating thinkers and doers.” There are hundreds of them to choose from, but a good place to start might be those about relationships or parenting.
