Anthony & Christina: Planes, Trains And Nuptials By The Sea

Anthony and Christina reside in England, but they chose a destination wedding in the United States after a trip to Maine really stole their hearts. They loved the harbor, which provided a backdrop for charming photos by A Brit & A Blonde photography, and the industrial type space they found near the sea for the reception.

Christina got ready on an island just across the Portland harbor, and in a gentlemanly manner, Anthony took a little boat across to pick up his blushing bride. The ceremony took place about a 5 minute walk from their reception on the Eastern Prom. Guests were then invited on board a train for a fun ride while they all mingled and drank Old Fashioneds and lemonades before being dropped back at the The Maine Narrow Gauge Railroad Station adjacent to their wedding venue.

Their wedding was filled with DIY details and décor items made by the couple, their family and friends. They crafted the wedding booklets, the ceremony candle stand, the chuppah poles for the ceremony–even the chuppah itself was hand knit. For the reception, they made the labels for the mason jars filled with Old Fashioned cocktails and lemonade, the chalkboard menus, the table plans, the hand-printed wine charm place cards, and the wonderful chevron table runners. The yellow and grey balloons that lined the ceiling added a simple and inexpensive touch of fun to the décor. Beverages from places that held meaning for the couple were served including wines from Argentina and Portland along with delicious beers and soft drinks from Maine and New England. And of course, no wedding in Maine would be complete without a tower of Whoopie pies for dessert!
