Modern Wedding Perfection In Toronto

Get your Pinterest boards primed, ladies! There are so many Pin-worhty details in this elegant wedding at Malaparte in Toronto. Planned to perfection by Melissa Andre Events, Carrie and Paul’s celebration is modern wedding perfection.  The white and pewter reception palette oozes chic simplicity, while the centerpieces’ soft blooms add a touch of romance to the room. Carrie’s satin, mostly-unadorned bridal gown and Paul’s dashing tux are perfect options for the modern bride and groom. The bridesmaids’ sorbet-orange dresses and pink peony bouquets are an unexpected combo, but they work beautifully together against the otherwise neutral palette. And wait ’til you see that cake!

From the bride… Paul and I really wanted the focus of our wedding to be a celebration of family and friends amongst great food and good music in a modern space in the heart of the city. We asked a family member, Pastor Andrew King, to marry us which he did with much humor and grace, and incorporated a talented family friend, Wendy Braithewaite, to perform a song during the evening. My talented sister-in-law Claudia and maid of honor, Angela, were both instrumental on helping to design and plan the wedding. In lieu of a slideshow, we opted to show pictures of our childhood using digital frames during the cocktail hour. From the invitations, the flowers, to the decor, we wanted to keep the look and feeling of the day as simple and modern as possible. Malaparte was the perfect venue to host a small intimate affair and to execute our vision. The ceremony was conducted on the balcony inside the white draped tent, and thankfully the rain held just in time to take some beautiful pictures outside. Guests were treated to exquisite food and greeted with exceptional service throughout the evening, not to mention our day-of coordinator who helped to ensure that the wedding went off without a hitch. I remember Paul and I looking out onto our guests at one point during the night, and really appreciating the fact that the closest people in our lives were celebrating together in one room. By the end of the night, the talented DJ Triple J swayed everyone on the dance floor, where we partied until the early morning. The day truly felt like a celebration and an intimate gathering of family and friends, which was exactly what we had hoped to accomplish.”
