This Romantic Ciderhouse Wedding Rules
Our love affair with romantic outdoor weddings knows no end. Especially ones with soft pink details, lace as far as the eye can see, and beautiful handmade decor elements. (A stylish bride and groom who are clearly head-over-heels in love doesn’t hurt either!) Jessica and Nic planned a perfect day for their wedding at the Sea Cider Farm & Ciderhouse in British Columbia, Canada. After exchanging vows in an intimate ceremony in the ciderhouse overlooking the apple orchard, the couple danced the night away with family and friends. Not before squeezing in an ocean-side portrait session, of course. Photographer Berkley Vopnfjörð was on site to capture every spectacular detail of this gorgeous event.
From the Bride… “Our wedding day was nothing short of magical. We had decided to have a first reveal in amongst Vancouver Island’s beautiful trees before making our way to the venue. Due to the venue’s public hours we had to set up our décor a mere hour before the ceremony started. We thought it would be almost impossible but things turned out beautifully with the help of so many family and friends that showed up early to help. We envisioned a rustic yet elegant setting, with large stumps as the base for mason jars filled with flowers, moss bedding for tea lights, and tree-branch candle holders. But most of all it was important to focus on what the day truly was about: having our near and dear there for our union to one another. This really shaped the atmosphere of the evening to overflowing love, joy, and humor.
Our ceremony took place on the deck overlooking the orchard. My four older brothers took turns passing me off down the aisle to my father, that moment every girl dreams about. Our sentimental, personally written vows, and exchange of our tree branch-inspired wedding bands sealed the deal! We were husband and wife! After a moment to ourselves we gathered in the Cider house for a toast. Our night included the kind of hilarious speeches that give you stitches from laughing so hard, homemade carrot cake, bottomless cider, old fashioned sodas, and a bride and groom dance off.
During the father-daughter dance my dad began to sing the song into my ear… “I guess you say, what can make me feel this way, my girl!” to which the entire room began singing along. For our first dance as husband and wife everyone sang the song around us again, and that moment became even more powerful with their love and support. The love that filled the room from our closest family and friends was overwhelming in the best way possible.
Overlooking the orchard with a beautiful view of the ocean and night sky was the perfect landscape. We released Chinese Wish Lanterns with our guests before hopping into our old Chevy Apache truck for the getaway.”
