Scot & Mary: Love On The Shore
Scott and Mary’s wedding is like a breath of fresh air. Their whimsical celebration was held at Scot’s mother’s country home on the shore of Lake Erie overlooking the quaint Point Abino lighthouse. We love the feeling of the couple’s entire day that was captured in these magical images by A Brit & A Blonde and the video by Ioan Films. From the first look portraits shot in the scenic setting during a light rainfall to the heartfelt vows exchanged during the outdoor ceremony with the picturesque backdrop of the lighthouse, Scot and Mary’s celebration was simply beautiful.
“It did drizzle here and there, but Scot and Mary embraced it wholeheartedly,” describes photographer Jessica Hill. “At one point Mary just goes for it, hikes up her dress and dances in the rain impromptu. It made for one of our favorite images ever since it was such a free-spirited moment captured.” The image (shown above) was featured in Pop Sugar’s Best Wedding Photos of 2015.
The reception was held under a tent furnished with tables and chairs dressed in white and the yard was decorated with strings of Edison lights. We love the unique escort cards that were inspired by Scot’s profession as a pilot—colorful wooden toy airplanes that were strung between the trees. Other DIY details included painted driftwood table numbers and signage, and the floral headpiece and arrangements made by Mary and her bridesmaids with local wildflowers at a nearby flower farm.
We also have to share this couple’s remarkable backstory as told on the photographer’s blog: We hear tons of incredible “How we met” stories from our couples, but I think Scot and Mary’s story is fit for a rom-com. It is the classic tale of Boy meets Girl. Boy tries to find Girl on Facebook. Boy sends a Facebook message to the wrong Girl with the same name by mistake. New Girl writes back to explain the error and they start chatting. Boy and Girl go on about their lives. Boy and Girl both meet other people and get engaged. Boy and Girl’s engagements both fall through. Girl messages Boy out of the blue many months later to ask a question about turbulence since Boy is a pilot. Boy and Girl start chatting again, love blossoms and I do’s follow. It would be a box office smash hit. I just love that there is a Mary out there that has no idea that she was the catalyst for such a match!
