Sleek Nuptials At Toronto’s Thompson Hotel

By sticking with a monochromatic color palette and minimalist decor, Bianca and Jake achieved the sophisticated wedding they envisioned. The reception’s all-white table linens, floral centerpieces and wedding cake look incredible under dramatic purple lighting. The design-loving bride and groom knew that Toronto’s trendy Thompson Hotel was a perfect fit for their modern aesthetic and, as you can see from the images by barebonephoto, it was a perfect venue for their sleek and stylish celebration.

From the Bride… We love Toronto and have spent many happy days there, so it was important for us to get married somewhere in the city. The Thompson Toronto was an exciting option because it’s stylish, modern, and sleek. We love and appreciate good design and knew that we would get a good dose of that at the Thompson. It felt like us and our style. We felt at home. Our wedding style is a collection of things/looks we love and live with in our home. We both prefer a clean colour palette with monochromatic or muted colours. I love to layer similar colours and or different objects in the same colour. I also prefer items that are understated and simplistic in their beauty– pearls instead of crystals, white linens instead of colour-coordinated table settings, etc. We like to introduce interest with pattern and texture. I love bold prints or graphics for this purpose. We are of the mind that things shouldn’t match, but should go together in a way that works. I fought (with sales associates, mainly) to have a simple dress: unadorned, beautiful fabric, gorgeous cut. I wanted to accessorize in my own way. Jake planned for a custom fit suit with bold patterned accessories. I always knew the flowers had to be white, all one type in a vase, different varieties on the same table. Other items on the table were hand picked (e.g., I bought the little bud vases from thrift stores over a period of weeks) and added a bit of interest.
