These stunning wedding photos by Magnolia Adam’s Photography were actually taken one month before the couple’s big day! Mikala and Alex got dressed up in their wedding finery (an exquisite lace dress for her, and a dapper tweed vest and yellow bowtie for him), and met up with their photographer for the big reveal.

The resulting photos convey all the surprise and emotion of a day-of “first look” session (Alex’s animated response to his beautiful bride will warm your heart!) minus the nerves and pressure of an impending ceremony. Indeed, the photographer recalls that her session with Mikala and Alex was extremely peaceful. Let’s just say the proof is definitely in the pictures: the happy couple seem completely at ease in front of the camera; they’re glowing and full of love. As it turns out, this type of bride and groom session is on the rise, and it’s easy to understand why once you take a look at these gorgeous shots.
