Covet Garden: Cody’s Little Shop Of Curios

“I used to wonder what it would be like to live in a curio cabinet,” says Cody, a Toronto shop-owner and lover of vintage objects, such as mourning art, old photos and all things funerary. In 2010, Cody opened the Chief Slavage Co., a second-hand shop stocked with antique finds that reveal her personal passions. While searching for a location to set up shop, Cody stumbled upon a combination storefront/apartment that she could rent. Cody quickly filled the space with her shabby-chic aesthetic and, even though she keeps her living quarters separate from her shop, there’s almost no distinction between the look and feel of the two spaces.
