Communities of artists everywhere are getting in on the studio tour trend. Whether it’s a walking tour around a city neighborhood or a driving tour in a rural area, it’s a very pleasant way to spend a day. Artists, artisans and craftspeople coordinate their efforts for these day- or weekend-long events, opening their home studios to the public and selling their work. You might find a wonderful work of art for your home (it would be wise to agree on a budget beforehand).

Have lunch at a restaurant in the same neighborhood, or pack a picnic. If you are heading out of town, a night away at a charming B&B or country inn would make a weekend of it.

Do a quick Google search to see if there are studio tours in your area. They are usually annual or semi-annual events, so plan ahead.
